About us

Our website: https://www.wordsmatter.sk.

What personal data do we collect and why do we collect them?

Comments

When the user posts a comment on our website, we collect data displayed in the comment form, the user’s IP address and browser’s user agent string, which helps us to identify spam.

An anonymous string created from your e-mail address (also called a ‘hash‘) can be provided to the Gravatar service to see whether you are using the service. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is verified and authorized, your profile picture becomes visible to the public next to the comment.

Media

When uploading pictures to the website, you should avoid using images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Users can download and extract location data from the images on the website.

Cookies

When you post a comment on our website, you can opt to save your name, e-mail address and websites via cookies. Cookies help us to improve your experience: when you post another comment, you will no longer need to fill in the information again. The cookie consent lasts for 12 months.

When you use the sign-in page, we set temporary cookies to verify that cookies are enabled on your browser. These cookies do not contain any personal data and are deleted when you close the browser.

By using cookies, we store your login data and adjust the screen display. Sign-in cookies are stored for up to 2 days and display customization cookies for up to 1 year. Once ‘Remember me’ is confirmed, you will be logged in for up to 2 weeks. Sign-in cookies will be deleted when you log-out of your account.

When you edit or post an article, your browser stores another cookie. This cookie does not contain any personal data. It determines only the ID of the post that you have just edited. The cookie will expire after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

With whom do we share your personal data?

How long do we retain your data?

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal data they provide in their user profile. All users can see or edit their personal data at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that data.

What rights do you have over your data?

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where do we transfer your personal data?

Users’ comments may be reviewed by an automatic spam detection service that may be located abroad.
